In the face of continued margin erosion, community pharmacists are being encouraged to consider new ways of working and new business models. Growing numbers of pharmacists are embracing new service delivery, building on their trusted professional status within the community to deliver, for example, added value services including travel jabs, flu vaccinations and point of care testing, as well as cosmetic services, such as Botox. The latest ‘State of Pharmacy’ survey, by digital health company Medicspot, also reveals that 81% of community pharmacists plan to offer a prescription delivery service in 2020 – with the majority offering free deliveries – and 84% are hoping to dispense more private prescriptions.
With growing pressure on GP surgeries, there are also a number of innovative pilots in progress, with community pharmacists in Greater Manchester piloting a new service that offers personalised support to patients being treated for mental illness; while a number of pharmacists are now offering a private HPV vaccination service to customers aged between 12 and 45. In addition to extending services, community pharmacists are exploring new products, such as CBD products, in response to customer demand.
Business Support
Considering new products and services is one thing – but how can a busy community pharmacist make innovative ideas a reality? Who has the time to trawl through supplier brochures to compare products or assess the quality of multiple service providers? That is where Cegedim’s Partner Programme comes in.
Cegedim’s Partner Programme has been developed to support community pharmacists’ plans for market development, service development, and market diversification. Bringing a range of exciting and unique products and services to enhance the overall business proposition, our partners offer a range of solutions that will help community pharmacists successfully expand the business.
Our trusted partners can help you deliver more value in many areas – such as Labcold’s lockable pharmacy and vaccine refrigerators to support the provision of travel vaccines. We are continually exploring opportunities to integrate with our partners – for example our partnership with Bristec will deliver a complete EPOS solution, including Pharmacy Manager and an FMD solution at the till.
Our partnerships can also help free up more time for other services – for example, CDRx which includes time saving features such as search and auto-complete to better manage Controlled Drug Registers. Pioneer LED, offer LED pharmacy crosses and high-resolution displays to improve high street visibility.
