As 2024 ends, another exciting chapter for Cegedim Rx begins

Tracey Robertson reflects on a year of innovation and collaboration across community pharmacy, as she shares her vision for the future of Cegedim Rx as its new Managing Director.

In technology, the focus is always on moving forward.

What’s next? How can we push things on, improve them, transform them? 

But, making time to reflect on the journey you’ve taken to reach that point is just as important.  

Stepping into my role as Managing Director, I’m proud to lead a team that has shown incredible dedication and resilience over the last year. 

2024 was a year that brought challenge and opportunity in equal measure to community pharmacy. 

Not least with the launch of Pharmacy First in England. 

But, together, we’ve supported community pharmacy through a period of significant change, while staying committed to delivering solutions that make a real difference. 

I’m also proud of the partnerships we’ve strengthened with our customers and the NHS. 

Collaboration is so very important. 

So, before we share all the exciting news for 2025, I wanted to take the opportunity to look back on how we’ve all – collectively and collaboratively - helped community pharmacy move forward in 2024…

Joining the dots between community pharmacy, GPs and patients

One of the biggest pain points for our customers, especially following the launch of Pharmacy First in England early in 2024, is how disjointed pharmacy is from primary care. 

In response, we’re working closely with the NHS to create digital pathways to bring community pharmacy more into the primary care fold – becoming the first supplier in many cases to launch initiatives such as BaRS, GP Connect Access Record and Update Record.

We’ve also launched new functionality that enables seamless integration into the NHS App, allowing patients to track the status of their prescription. 

These developments are just the start of our work to create stronger links across healthcare.

Helping Pharmacists Focus on Patients

Many pharmacists feel trapped on a dispensing treadmill, with little time to dedicate to delivering essential clinical services. At Cegedim Rx, we are committed to changing that by driving automation into the dispensing process and ensuring it works effectively for all our customers across the industry.

When we talk about automation, we’re referring to leveraging cutting-edge technology, whether it’s AI, machine learning, or business intelligence to take on the heavy lifting for pharmacists. Unlocking new profit potential

Pharmacists don’t need to be told that clinical services can deliver more profit to their business. 

The blocker isn’t appetite. 

Sadly, it’s the bureaucracy and admin surrounding some of these services that previously made them feel like more hassle than they were worth - especially the paperwork-heavy New Medicines Service. 

Our goal is to make clinical services easier to deliver, helping pharmacies grow their businesses, while meeting patient demand.

2025: A sneak peek…

As we look ahead to 2025, I’m excited to share a glimpse of what’s to come. 

After much hard work by our team and invaluable support from our customers and partners, our scan-driven dispensing journey has been realised. 

Technology is now giving pharmacy teams and businesses the choice to change. The choice to retire outdated workflows that no longer serve them or their patients.

We want to support community pharmacists through these transitions.

Which is why we continue to look at more ways to drive dispensing efficiencies through strategic partnerships with the likes of Phoenix, providing customers with more choice on how and where they dispense – whether it’s in store or fully remote via a hub and spoke model or wholesaler fulfilment.

At Cegedim Rx we’re proud to be the partner community pharmacy trusts to support this transformation. It’s not just about saving time; it’s about doing it with confidence, knowing pharmacies can deliver the safest, highest-quality care in the communities they serve.
